>>Download Guestlist Template<<

Your guest list should be in Microsoft Excel table format, with one record for each guest, laid out as per the following:

Details for Envelope
Details for Invitation
Guest's Name(s) Street & No Area Postal Town Postcode Guest's Name(s)
Mr & Mrs J Smith & Family 123 The Village Templepatrick Ballyclare BT39 0AA John, Sarah, Lewis & Chloe
Mr S Smith 456 Main Street   Ballyclare BT39 9AA Samuel & Guest

CHECK:

  • Addresses and Postcodes.
  • For UK addresses, you must have the street name and number (or house name if it doesn’t have a number), area, postal town and full postcode. County and country names are not required. To find the correct postcode, visit Royal Mail Postcode Finder. To verify a Republic of Ireland address, go to http://address.anpost.ie. Spending a little time checking your addresses when compiling the list will save any major headaches later on.
  • Punctuation and Grammar.
  • Check that there are capital letters and spaces where there should be, also if listing several names, ensure they are separated by a comma. Note that a comma should not be used if it is followed by ‘&’ or ‘and’. Be consistent, ensure each address is treated in the same manner – eg use either ‘&’ or ‘and’ in the guests’ names – not a mixture of both.
  • Spelling.
  • It is vital that you spell your guests’ names and addresses correctly – or they will never forgive you!
  • Style of Address.
  • Ensure that the style of addressing your guests reflects the style of those doing the inviting, eg MR & MRS ROBERT JONES request the pleasure of the company of MR & MRS JOHN SMITH & FAMILY OR ROBERT AND JENNY JONES request the pleasure of the company of JOHN, SARAH, LEWIS AND CHLOE SMITH
  • CHECK and CHECK AGAIN!!!!
  • And only when you are 100% sure that there are no errors of any kind should you send your list to print.

Always remember that how your invitations are addressed and presented reflects on your integrity and there is no point in having fabulous invitations if you are sloppy with the details!
